English Made Record No.930 Bolt Cutters Restoration - 4K

This is my restoration of an English made Record No.930 set of bolt cutters. These were given to me to restore by a much loved family member who’s had these in their shed for at least 30 years. They’ve very kindly given me a number of tools, with associated stories, over the years, and it’s been my pleasure to have restored these bolt cutters. l was slightly concerned that I’d soften the jaws whilst I was re-profiling them. Luckily, with only a short time grinding the edges, and keeping them cool with water, they now work well. Everything came apart nicely. I replaced the ‘peened’ pins with bolts to allow for easier disassembly in the future. Although the original colour appears to be the usual ‘Record blue’, I’m happy with the Hammerite hammered blue finish. This also matches one or two of the other tools I have ;-).
