Immigration | Malawians housed in Newlands now en route back home
Deputy Government Spokesperson William Baloyi says government is monitoring the situation involving about 500 Malawian nationals being housed at a church in Newlands after their relocation from Cape Town. He says the Department of Home Affairs and the Malawian Consulate-General are working to facilitate their voluntary return to Malawi and ensure compliance with immigration requirements. Law enforcement has been deployed to maintain order, while communities have been urged to remain calm. Joining us now to discuss the situation is Bishop Dulton Adams, a member of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature. For more news, visit sabcnews.com and #SABCNews on all Social Media platforms.
