Today we're talking about one of those moments in history that determined Adolf Hitler's march to power over half of Europe. ❄️ February 1933, a frosty morning. Hitler had only been in the chancellor's chair for three weeks, and already a meeting was taking place that would change the course of history. In a vast hall, under the watchful eye of Hermann Göring, former flying ace, now Speaker of Parliament and a man intimately connected to big capital, the Reich's most powerful industrialists sit. Hitler delivers a fiery speech: "We must end the "weakness of the state," crush communism, dissolve trade unions, and make every entrepreneur a "little Führer" in his own factory." Then Göring takes the floor. The point is simple: Elections are approaching, and the NSDAP's coffers are empty. It's time to open our wallets and support the party that will grant them even more power. No one present protests. Not a single muscle twitches. And among these people...? These weren't anonymous names. These were logos that we still see today in advertisements, in stores, and on the streets. Giants such as: Continental, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, Opel, Siemens, Bayer, Agfa, Dr. Oetker, Hugo Boss, Bosch, Allianz, Deutsche Reichsbahn (which took over the entire Polish railway infrastructure after 1939), Lufthansa, Deutsche Bank, IG Farben, Krupp AG. These are today our cars 🚗, our medicines 💊, clothes 👔, lighting and household appliances 💡🔧, food 🍞, insurance, and banks 🏠💶. Elements of our everyday lives that, at that time, co-created the political and business machine pushing Europe towards tragedy.
