Let's Kiss The Sun // Tatsuro Yamashita (bass cover)

Wanted to test out some recorded Slap Tones™️ on the new bass, so I thought I’d do a quick lil vid on Let’s Kiss The Sun, a song I tend to practice to loosen up my right hand and get my octaves going! This song closes out Moonglow, an oddly overlooked Tatsuro album, at least when compared to For You, Ride On Time, or Spacy. The album marks a point in Tatsuro’s discography where he starts to really come into his own voice and style as a songwriter, and nowhere does that show itself more than in the bass playing. It’s got disco-style bass, but it’s not exactly disco. It’s got slap bass, but it’s not exactly funk. It’s Tatsuro’s signature style of sunny, impossibly beautiful pop music, and nothing else. Fitting that his live show is called “Joy” - that’s exactly what this song is. Pure joy.
