In your twenties, friendship can start to feel like something that needs planning, money, matching schedules, and perfectly curated moments. But I’m slowly learning that some of the best memories are made in the simplest ways. Today started with church, then a spontaneous trip to buy hairpiece with a friend that somehow turned into hours of talking and sharing fries at McDonald’s. Later that evening, I bumped into another friend who invited me to church with him, and we ended the night with fast food for dinner. Nothing extravagant. Nothing life-changing. Just people choosing to spend time together. I think we underestimate how deeply we crave community while also making friendship feel more complicated than it needs to be. Sometimes all it takes is a text, a random invite, a quick “are you busy?” or knocking on someone’s door and asking if they want to hang out. Because at the end of the day, the intimacy of friendship isn’t really about where you are or how much money you spend. It’s about being seen, being around people, laughing over small things, and realizing that ordinary moments can still feel like the best parts of life.
