George Washington - Four Holes in His Coat | The American Revolution

In celebration of America’s 250th anniversary, Witnesses of History: The American Revolution begins — a cinematic music journey through real Revolutionary history. This series tells the story in chronological order, one event at a time, through songs grounded in actual history, primary sources, letters, eyewitness accounts, and the people who lived inside the moment. New songs will drop almost daily as we move from the sparks before the Revolution, through the Declaration, the battlefield losses, the impossible victories, the French alliance, Yorktown, and finally the Treaty of Paris. This first song begins before America was even a nation. “George Washington — Four Holes in His Coat” takes us to July 9, 1755, during the French and Indian War, when a young George Washington rode through chaos at Braddock’s defeat. Two horses were shot from under him, bullets tore through his coat, and yet he walked away alive. Before the general. Before the president. Before the father of a nation. There was a young man in the wilderness, being shaped for a burden he could not yet understand. This is not just music. This is history you can feel.
