Best of Switzerland 🇨🇭 Morteratsch, Bernina (incredible day trip from St Moritz)

Morteratsch, Pontresina, Switzerland: the largest glacier by area in the Bernina Range of the Bündner Alps in Switzerland. Join us as we go on a day trip from St Moritz to the incredible Morteratsch Glacier. We started the day driving from St Moritz to the car park near some brilliant waterfalls where we did a short walk with Hannah's Nonna and Grandpa. We then went to Alp-Schaukäserei Morteratsch for a delicious lunch. Here, cheese and curd are made over an open fire. You can watch them being made by hand the traditional way, as well as taste the many varieties produced at the cheese buffet. After food, we said goodbye to Nonna and Grandpa and hiked to get a view of the glacier. Along the hike there are a number of signs to highlight just how far the glacier has retreated in the past 150 years. We were really fortunate with gloriously blue sunny skies and loved walking alongside the glacial stream. We got a great view of the glacier in the distance (and some falling rocks) before turning around and heading back to where we came from. When we reached the train station, we bought our tickets back to St Moritz and enjoyed the train journey. By the time we got back, the wind had picked up so we enjoyed a rather blustery walk alongside Lake St Moritz! Stay tuned for more vlogs!
