Farmers have once again protested against the government's plans to increase VAT in agriculture from 8% to 20%. They deployed machinery onto the highways and blocked access to the Leuseni and Sculeni customs offices. The protesters claim the industry is in crisis, and the VAT increase will only worsen the situation and increase costs they won't be able to cover. Farmers are demanding that the 8% rate be maintained and point to a lack of sufficient government support.
