Great Tattoo to mark Admiral Joachim Rühle's retirement by Defense Minister Boris Pistorius. Admiral Rühle was most recently Chief of Staff of NATO's Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe. The Great Tattoo was worthy of a long-serving seaman and had to be cancelled before prayers and the national anthem due to heavy rain and thunderstorms. The parade still took place with a motorcycle escort from the military police. The formation of the Great Tattoo was led by Lieutenant Colonel Maik Teichgräber, the commander of the Guard Battalion. The torchlight procession and the pearl necklace were provided by the 5th Company of the Guard Battalion (Air Force in naval uniform). The staff band played under the direction of Lieutenant Colonel Kiauka.
