How did the Garden of the Gods get its' name?

During a recent work trip to Colorado Springs, CO, I had some downtime in the evenings to see some of the local sites. During this trip I drove through the Garden of the Gods. Garden of the Gods or GOG as we call it is located just north west of downtown Colorado Springs Colorado. It's a beautiful natural treasure loaded with sites and vistas full of awe and wonder. Hiking is plentiful throughout GOG with both paved and gravels trails to traverse. Some of the more famous rock formations include Steamboat Rock and Balanced Rock. Aside from the natural attractions within the park there's also a very informative visitor's center and a trading post dating back to 1900. Come along with me as we walk the trails and view the natural wonders of Garden of the Gods.
