He saw a number of verses (signs of power) of God and a number of miracles, but the eyes of his heart were blinded before the eyes of his head. Therefore, he became like a very rebellious devil. Often the Messenger of God sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam and his companions felt his disturbance and denial. However, one day he wished that he would convert to Islam. He said: "O Allah, strengthen Islam with 'Amr bin Hisham or 'Umar bin Khattab." Allah granted the prayer of the Messenger of Allah, so that the best of the two was 'Umar bin Khattab who eventually converted to Islam, while the worst of the two was Abu Jahl who always opposed the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. Indeed, Abu Jahl was the strategist of the Battle of Badr for the enemies of Islam. He wanted to teach the Muslims a lesson. However, he was deceived by his devil that he would defeat the Prophet and his companions and suddenly he died covered in blood; and before he died, he had time to say: "Whose victory is today?" So it was said to him: "For Allah and His Messenger." Hearing that, Abu Jahl reproached the Muslims and became more disbelievers. This made the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, say: "Indeed, the Pharaoh of this nation is worse than the Pharaoh of Moses." It is true that Pharaoh Moses believed when he was about to die even though Allah did not accept him. As for the Arab Pharaoh, he died in a state of disbelief and reviled Allah and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). In a bad condition full of envy towards Islam and His Prophet, a teenager named Ikrimah grew up. Ikrimah saw his father in Mecca constantly hostile to the Muslims, then saw his people lose in the battle of Badr. He returned to Mecca without his father as he had when he went to Badr.
