Chimney Sweeps Immunity Challenge | Survivor: Edge of Extinction - S38E11: Awkward

The castaways would brace themselves with their arms between two walls while standing barefoot on two foot pegs. Every 15 minutes, the castaways would move down to smaller foot pegs. When the castaways reached the third set of foot pegs, they would try to remain on them as long as they could. The last castaway to remain on their pegs would win. Chimney Sweep is a recurring endurance challenge on Survivor. It debuted in Survivor: Fiji and later re-appeared in Survivor: Tocantins, Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains, Survivor: Redemption Island, and Survivor: Edge of Extinction. Rules The castaways would brace themselves with their arms between two walls while standing barefoot on two foot pegs. Every 15 minutes, the castaways would move down to smaller foot pegs. When the castaways reached the third set of foot pegs, they would try to remain on them as long as they could. The last castaway to remain on their pegs would win. History Yau-Man Chan was the first contestant to win this challenge when it appeared as the first individual Immunity Challenge in episode 10 "It's a Turtle?!" of Survivor: Fiji. After more than one hour, Yau-Man became the last man standing by outlasting Boo Bernis, winning individual immunity. J.T. Thomas won the challenge after a close fought battle with Coach Wade after over 50 minutes when it reappeared as the final five Immunity Challenge in Survivor: Tocantins. The Villains tribe won a feast at an Outback steakhouse after winning this challenge over the Heroes tribe when it was set up as a head-to-head tribal Reward Challenge in Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains. In Survivor: Redemption Island, Matt Elrod won this Redemption Island duel against his Redemption Island opponent, Sarita White, allowing him to re-enter the game. When it reappeared in Survivor: Edge of Extinction, the challenge came down to Gavin Whitson and Lauren O'Connell after multiple successive dropouts. Over 50 minutes into the challenge, Lauren dropped, leaving Gavin as the winner of the challenge. Trivia J.T. Thomas is the only person to compete in this challenge twice. He was still standing at the end of the challenge both times he played. Only men have won this challenge individually; however, the Villains tribe won the challenge in Heroes vs. Villains with their only male contestant sitting out. This challenge has appeared as a Reward Challenge, an Immunity Challenge, and a Redemption Island duel. https://survivor.fandom.com/wiki/Surv... Production As has been the case for a decade, this season was filmed back-to-back with its predecessor, Survivor: David vs. Goliath. Due to the nature of this season, the castaways were not allowed to do exit press until the end of the season.[4] Twists/Changes Four Returning Players: Four previous castaways will compete with a group of 14 new castaways.[3] Edge of Extinction:[5] After being voted out and departing Tribal Council, those who were voted out were given the choice to permanently leave the game or go into the unknown for a chance to come back.[6] After the merge, all castaways remaining on Edge of Extinction that did not quit would form the eventual jury. Advantage Menu: A clue hidden at the marooning would lead one person to find the Advantage Menu, giving them one of three advantages. The finder can either steal the reward from the winning tribe, use the parchment as an Extra Vote, or use it for individual immunity, which works similar to a Hidden Immunity Idol. The Advantage Menu expired after the third Tribal Council. Hidden Immunity Idol: A Hidden Immunity Idol is hidden at each camp. In addition, the both Edge of Extinction returnees were gifted a Hidden Immunity Idol upon their return. However, this idol has two halves, one of which must be given to another castaway before the next Tribal Council. If both castaways remain after Tribal Council, the two halves combine into an idol with full power. Tribe Expansion: With 15 castaways left, a tribe expansion occurred introducing the Lesu tribe. Extra Vote: On Days 13 and 21, an Extra Vote was hidden on the Edge of Extinction. The person who found the Extra Vote would have the right to gift it to someone currently in the game. The Extra Vote hidden on Day 13 had the addition stipulation that it could only be gifted to someone attending the next Tribal Council.
