Crusting Buttercream Icing

If you're looking for an alternative to royal icing for decorating sugar cookies, try this amazing Crusting Buttercream Icing recipe! It dries hard enough to package your cookies, although it does maintain a soft bite (it doesn't get rock hard like Royal Icing). You might find that you like the flavor better than royal icing as well! Give it a try! The crusting buttercream icing takes longer to dry than royal icing, so let your cookies sit out to crust over at least over night and maybe a little longer before trying to package them.
