Castelul cu fantome și 99 de încăperi de la Macea #PovesteaLocului @TVRTM

A castle, ghosts, a torture chamber and events that changed the destiny of a community. Macea. The first time we hear about Macea in history is at the end of the 1300s. In the Middle Ages, the locality, then a feudal domain, passed through the hands of several owners. None of them made themselves known until the construction of the Macea castle. In the western part of Romania, expressions of feudal power are found in all counties. Castles, fortresses and traces of them transform stories into true legends that are passed down from generation to generation. This is how we can still find out today how a typical day in a castle unfolded. Most of the time, the locals were at the nobleman's orders. The best were chosen from among them. The valet, the cooks and seamstresses and all those who were essential to the nobleman lived in the castle in rooms specially arranged for them. Banat and Transylvania were under foreign rule for a long time. The nobles of these areas were known as grofi. The name comes from the Hungarian language, which means count. The titles were received after acts of bravery, and with the ennoblement came the domains. The fate of the Macea town is intertwined with that of a noble family. The Cernovici family contributed to the expulsion of the Turks from Banat, and as a reward the Habsburg house ennobled it. Along with receiving the title came corresponding advantages. From here on, the life of the Cernovici family members can be seen in the ritual of a typical day at the castle. A day at the castle ended with stories told by candlelight. On one side were those told by the nobles, and on the other were those told by the servants. One of the stories of the Macea castle today is about ghosts. The story about the ghosts of Macea is so widespread in the area that many times the curious would do anything to be part of such an encounter. Locals say that the ghosts of the castle appear especially at night, between 12 and 1. Locals also say that the ghosts are not set on evil, but rather appear to see what is happening with the property. Macea Castle had several owners, but only two families remain in the memory of the locals. The Cernovici family and the Karoly family. The castle was built in two stages by the two noble families. Each of them left their mark on the construction, but they also left behind stories that fired the imagination of the locals. Why did the builders stop at the 99th room? Why didn't they build 100 rooms? No one can say that they found room number 100, and especially no one has found even a part of the treasure. But since the legend still exists, an explanation has emerged to match.
