Learn more at https://bit.ly/3igC4r1 Joy Monahan lives in Honolulu, Hawaii. She is the 2008 women’s longboard champion. Joy’s father grew up in Hawaii, and surfing became their family activity. It was their way to bond together. Her first reaction to winning the longboard championship was to cry because she was able to accomplish such a large goal, but it didn’t change her life much. After winning she started school and still does everyday chores. Surfing has helped her stay out of trouble. When surfing you have to position yourself just right. She can parallel this to her life. If you are positioned right you can take advantage of the opportunities that come your way. Joy is a professional longboard surfer and a Mormon.
