The President Director of PT Pos Indonesia outlined various transformation steps the company is undertaking to address the challenges of the logistics and postal services business in the digital era. In a meeting with Commission VI of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), the President Director of PT Pos Indonesia acknowledged that the company, which was founded on August 26, 1746, or nearly 300 years ago, must change its old work patterns to remain relevant. According to him, for years PT Pos Indonesia has been accustomed to playing the role of "counter attendant," waiting for customers to arrive to use the available services. However, now the company is required to be more aggressive in seeking business opportunities, establishing collaborations with various parties, and reaching customers directly. The President Director of PT Pos also highlighted the high logistics costs in Indonesia, which reach more than 23 percent of Gross Domestic Product (GDP), far above the average for ASEAN countries. To reduce these costs, the company is implementing various efficiency measures, including integrating logistics services, optimizing return shipments, consolidating subsidiaries, and strengthening its national distribution network. In addition, PT Pos Indonesia is also striving for internal improvements, starting from improving the quality of human resources, digitizing services, and changing the work culture to be more modern, responsive, and customer-oriented. Interestingly, the President Director of PT Pos Indonesia shared an experience when he first took office, where a number of young people even questioned whether Pos Indonesia was still operating. This became both a challenge and motivation for the company to re-engage with millennials and Gen Z.
