Each of the cathedral's two towers is 67 meters tall; and although they have space for 56 bells, they currently house 35: 23 in the east tower, 11 in the west tower, and one outside the bell tower. The oldest bell is named Santa María de la Asunción (affectionately called La Doña), weighs 7 tons, and was cast in 1578; however, the most important of all, Santa María de Guadalupe, cast in 1791, weighs a total of 13 tons.
