In a recent interview with the website A Rabbit’s Foot, George Lucas stated two things that generated considerable debate: 1️⃣ That artificial intelligence is inevitable in Hollywood special effects — and that studios cannot ignore it. 2️⃣ That fans are “ruling” film productions today, and that this would be detrimental to the art — especially when studios listen to the “woke fan,” and not the “true fan.” But is Lucas seeing the whole picture? In the Jedi Crusade, we argue that both statements, while well-intentioned, oversimplify complex problems. Regarding AI: yes, it's coming — but replacing human artists with algorithms can empty the soul of cinema, something Lucas himself always valued with ILM and human innovation. And regarding fans: the problem was never fans wanting quality — it was Hollywood pretending to listen to fans while pursuing corporate and ideological agendas disguised as “representation.” Die-hard fans never asked for empty characters or disjointed plots — they asked for respect for the mythology, coherence, and emotion, as in the originals from 1977–1983. Is George Lucas, the creator of the Saga, confusing legitimate criticism with "interference"?
