72 year-old Australian moved to Indonesia with only $20,000 and made it work!

Today we meet an Australian expat who was fed up with life in Australia after things weren't working out, sold everything, and moved to Jogyakarta, Indonesia. He hasn't looked back. Doug who is 72 years of age takes us through his large home (which houses his wife, 3 kids, 3 maids and eight cats) while explaining the costs of land, construction of the house, as well as the money required to maintain it all. We then drive to one of his wife's investment properties which is a twenty room Kost (small apartments) catering for local Indonesian and their need for relatively well-priced accommodation. During the visit with doug i get his thoughts on what the difficulties or challenges are living in Indonesia for him, what he loves about the place, his previous occupation, and his overall experience as an expat in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. This was a really insightful day with Doug and a further look into life in Indonesia.
