Ryburn – Southampton Model Railway Society Annual Exhibition 2026

Ryburn by Ray Hodson – A P4 gauge layout at the Southampton Model Railway Society Annual Exhibition 24 January 2026 Ryburn represents a station between Sowerby Bridge and Rishworth built by the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway. The station opened in 1881 and closed to passengers in 1929 and goods in 1988. The layout was first built by John Dilnot and Dave Kirby to represent a station on the Rishworth single line branch line based on Ripponden, c1907. After the layout was passed to Ray Hodson the period has been extended to shortly after the Great War and assumes an original plan for a double track cross country line through the Pennines towards the Oldham Loop Line was completed. The station is on a double track line with a small yard with connections from both up and down 0:00 – Introduction – Ryburn 0:22 – Tunnel 0:56 – First Bridge 2:06 – Sheep 2:44 – Signal Box 3:26 – Crane 3:46 – Waiting Hut 4:16 – Platform Sign 5:10 – Station Building 6:29 – Engine Shed 7:24 – Right Bridge 8:03 – Footbridge 8:44 – Sheep 9:06 – End Titles #modeltrain #modeltrainlayouts #modeltrainset #modeltrains #p4gauge #p4scale #exhibition #exhibitionlayout #railroad #railwaylayout #railwaymodeling #railways #finescale #scenerybuilding #modelrailwayscenery
