Dear Old Southland - Wilber Bob - Marsalis 2000 From a TV program featuring the music of Louis Armstrong Wynton Marsalis plays Dear Old Southland, a tune which Louis Armstrong recorded in 1930. Wynton's special guest is Bob Wilber who in this tune plays soprano sax. In 1937 soprano saxophonist Sidney Bechet recorded this same tune when he was with the Noble Sissle band. In his youth Bob Wilber was a student of Bechet. Between Wynton and Bob they amazingly figured out an arrangement where the original two versions were combined of course with the individual flavor and skills of the two masters playing it here in 2000.
