Inspired by the teachings of Sunan Muria, local communities are actively involved in environmental conservation, trying to balance agriculture and nature conservation for a sustainable future. Changing weather patterns have affected wildlife interactions, especially increasing conflicts between leopards and residents’ livestock. This has prompted the need for better livestock protection. Amidst all this, hope remains. Inspired by the teachings of Sunan Muria, local communities are struggling to maintain a balance between living off nature and caring for it. They have begun replanting deforested areas, protecting livestock from attacks by wild animals, and choosing to farm coffee—not just for income, but for a greener future. In the Pati Ayam area, traces of history and biodiversity are slowly being lost. But the spirit of mutual cooperation has not died out.
