Nalbinding for Beginners by Stacy
Nalbinding is an ancient stitching technique that predates knitting and crochet. In the Medieval Viking Age, Nalbinding was used to make small garments of clothing such as mittens, socks and hats. Using hand-spun wool, these garments kept people warm and comfortable during the cold weather season. I love teaching this special and ancient skill in my historical reenactment group (Vikings of Utah) and I hope you enjoy this tutorial! Items needed: Nalbinding needle made of bone, wood or antler (horn) Yarn (wool is preferred but you can use other fiber yarn, if you can manage and you will see what I mean in the video :-) Scissors
