Les haies plessées - Gestes, paroles et savoir-faire de Morvandelles et de Morvandiaux – PnrMorvan
The Morvan is a region where the plèche (pleshing) of living hedges is still practiced. This hedge-making technique involves laying shrubs down and intertwining them between stakes. This allows growth to continue, creating a hedge that is virtually impenetrable to cattle or sheep. Plechees mark the landscape and bear witness to the agricultural history of the Morvan, where the highly divided plots were enclosed by hedges. Discover here the techniques and know-how of plèche, through the testimony of our elders. Since 2009, the Parc du Morvan and the "Les Plècheux du Morvan" association have organized annual training workshops. This expertise has a place in the contemporary world: simple and ecological, economical, sustainable, aesthetic, and practical. To learn more: www.patrimoinedumorvan.org Thanks to the witnesses: André and Bernard Leuthreau, Michel Salesse, Michel Renault, Raymond Berg, Hubert Boussard, Roger Goujon, Maurice Desmoulins --- Between 2003 and 2012, the Morvan Park collected more than 55 pieces of knowledge and memories from Morvan residents. Thus was born a collection called "Gestures, Words, and Know-How of the Morvan," which the Park now makes available online for free to all. These engaging portraits and transmissions of techniques and knowledge, some of which have long been lost, help us better discover, understand, and appreciate the Morvan. In addition to this public presentation, the Park has nearly 200 hours of footage of these testimonies available to researchers and enthusiasts.
