[1cc] Shinobi (Arcade) - ALL Clear

Wanted to do this for a long time but never sat down to actually do it. Gameplay is pretty simple: rescue all the ninja dudes, reach the end of a stage. If you miss one hostage, you can't finish the stage. Generally but not always, one of the dudes in a stage will give you a power up (gun instead of shuriken, katana instead of kick for the melee attack), but you lose that power up between stages for some reason. Because of that, it's preferable to do the stages without dying (big advice), or at least, not dying after you get the power up, since you can't get it back. Thankfully, that power up is quite good so you should be fine for the remainder of the stage. You also have a screen-clearing special attack which you use with the third button. You can't choose which one you'll get, and I'm not sure if there's a gameplay difference anyway, it's more of a cosmetic thing. Using it at the right time for each stage is essential if you want to beat the final stretch of the game. You get one extend if you beat a bonus stage, but the more I play this game, the worse I am at this bonus stage. Overall the game is very manageable but takes some memorization. If you don't memorize it, it's full of traps. If you learn all the enemies' weaknesses (big bazooka dudes can't crouch, big sword guys are killed with one melee attack) and can remember where enemy ninjas appear (especially the last 2 missions, IN PARTICULAR 5-2), your chances of clearing will be high. For the 3rd boss, I try to use some kind of trick to bypass it. Honestly the first phase is extremely annoying and inconsistent so I didn't want to do it, and I have fun finding this kind of trick. Basically, you want to hit the first 2 statues 4 times each, then wait patiently for the statues to come, and use the special attack when the statue's graphics reaches the eye of your character. When it expires, move a tiny bit to the right, but don't reach the other statue. You may be able to get to the other side. I failed in this run, because it's fairly precise. But I prefer to attempt it rather than trying the boss the normal way when it has full HP. Here's an example I recorded after the run if you're curious:    • How to "cheese" Shinobi 3rd boss   Statues have 8HP, and your special attack will inflict 4HP of damage. Doing what I described will allow you to be around the middle of the first column when then spell expires, and delaying the kill will allow you to move a bit to the right while they explode (which you couldn't do if you used the spell when they would be at, say, 1HP, since the top statue would replace it before the end of the spell). The drawback of using this trick is that it wastes a lot of time, so if you fail you're guaranteed to be dead. But without the trick, beating this boss is extremely tight. Note that if you fail against this boss, it will have less HP (7HP on second try, 6HP on third, and so on), and it's much more manageable that way. I'd recommend trying this method for the first attempt at 8HP, and doing it the regular way (spamming shurikens and jumping) if it fails, since at 7HP and lower it's fine. 4th boss is annoying too, you need to find a good rhythm. Once you understand it, it's not too hard. Looks really easy when you watch someone else doing it, but it's actually tricky and tight. Feel free to use your special attack if it comes too close, you'd have to play close to perfection to beat it otherwise. The final boss has 4 phases. First phase is a little bit like the jumping blue ninjas: bait him into a position, move away, shoot, etc. Second phase is tricky. Crouch, keep shooting, eventually the tornado will reach you but you will kick it. However it uses these spinning blades or whatever they are, they may corner you, and in this case I use the special attack. It's the best time to use it, since the rest of the fight is fine. Then, it will jump around spawning white copies. The boss itself can't damage you but the copies can. Keep shooting at the boss to kill the copies as they appear. If you still have the special attack saved, it can be useful if some copies survived. Then it will try to kick you. I just keep shooting, turning when he reaches the other side, and most of the time it works provided you turn around fast (which I failed the first time). You can also try running in the opposite direction between attacks, it seems like he won't be able to hit you. It was actually my first serious attempt at 1cc'ing the game, after spending some time learning it. I missed one jump in 4-3 which honestly isn't hard since you can take your time, but you need to be precise in the stage. Then I completely lost my focus in 5-2, but otherwise it was fine. I haven't uploaded stuff in quite some time because I was busy, but I may start doing some more arcade variety games in the near future. 00:00 Mission 1 02:10 Mission 2 06:10 Mission 3 13:39 Mission 4 19:11 Mission 5 25:11 Credits
