The Best Way To Catch Mackerel (SHARK CAUGHT) Redondo Beach Pier

This is how we catch Mackerel down here in southern California . Its very different from other places in the world. But this is how the SoCal Locals fish for mackerel here in southern California. For example in Florida you just use a cast net for pinfish, mullet. lady fish etc. Here in California Cast net is illegal to use. So we use a technique that's been used here for many years. that's the was we catch them today and show you guy's how to catch them as well. We use a size 6 sabiki and jig upwards or downwards until its fish on. Cast out as far as possible and reel slowly. That entices the mackerel to keep coming because they swim in schools. When it gets tough and no bites are coming around, that's when i switch to bait. I usually tip the ends of the hooks with a small piece of mackerel or squid whatever is available at the moment. and that's the end, that's how we do it down here in Southern California.
