Love,lies and the fight to survive

Sheila Cherop began her education in Nandi County. After completing Class Eight, she moved to Eldoret. While in high school, she was threatened with a knife by a man who forcibly slept with her, and as a result, she became pregnant. She later gave birth to a child. When she went to the man’s mother for help, she was chased away. Sheila tried to raise her child on her own, but it was very difficult. Eventually, she left the child in the care of her father. Later, when she returned to reclaim her child, the man lied to her, saying that the child had been buried. While working as a househelp in Nairobi, Sheila met a pastor, and they began a relationship. As they planned to visit her parents, she became pregnant. However, she later discovered that the pastor had another woman, whom he had also impregnated. He eventually married the other woman, leaving Sheila pregnant and solely responsible for raising her child. At the time, Sheila was living with two girls. One day, after returning home from work, she found the house empty—her roommates had disappeared, taking all her certificates with them.
