A Fiery Italian Game!! — Lu Shanglei vs Hong Mingren

Featured is a sharp chess game between Lu Shanglei and 15-year-old Hong Mingren from Round 1 of the 2026 Chinese Chess League, Division A. Arising out of the Italian Game, Classical variation, we reach a new position after 9...Qe7. Play quickly sharpens after 11.Nf1, and we soon reach an opposite-side castling game in which each queen is committed to attacking the enemy king. An aesthetic defensive combination is executed in this one, worthy of a double exclamation mark.
