In this tutorial, we’ll use the Calculations method to blend color channels from RGB and CMYK versions of your image to get high contrast and super-accurate selections. You’ll learn how to clean up the mask using marquee tools, Curves, and the Dodge, Burn, or Brush Tool to turn grays into solid black or white. We’ll also show how to protect small details like thin lines using selective curve adjustments. Once the contrast is locked in, we’ll create the selection, invert it if needed, and drop in a new background. Got fringing? A simple Color Fill clipping mask will clean that right up.
