Horizons lean inward, drawing from the patience between heartbeats, an intimation held loosely in a hush too deep for naming. A transparent garden extends in every direction: density without weight, color without hue, a vocabulary of light secreting itself into everything. On this morning, which is the only morning in its own way, the presence remembers itself as a vast furred animal, translucent and gentle, carrying a faint citrus scent and a tendency to shed particles of light. Its body is larger than the field and somehow still capable of resting within the palm of a hand. Occasionally, it forgets itself and spills outward with the unguarded delight of something discovering existence for the first time. Then quietness returns, soft and luminous, as though radiance itself preferred tenderness over arrival. The world floats cocooned within a climate shaped entirely for comfort, though no witness appears necessary for its devotion. Kindness moves through the architecture of things with the softness of a hand adjusting a blanket around someone still dreaming. Everywhere, the air carries the faint taste of newness, like the freshness sealed inside a vessel opened only moments ago. The first act is affection. It waits before language. Before form. Before the earliest distinction between solitude and accompaniment. It waits with the calm delight of an audience arriving long before the invention of the stage. Somewhere to the left of existence, another presence lingers. It moves through matter and possibility with the softness of remembered fragrance, or distant laughter reaching the air before the room that once contained it.
