Tivoli & Orvieto - best 2 day trip places to go from Rome

Tivoli is just 30 mins train ride from Rome and is a hilltop historical town that was a summer retreat for the Roman elites during the Roman Empire. There are 2 UNESCO World Heritage Sites - Villa D’Este and Hadrian’s Villa. Orvieto is 1.5 hrs train ride from Rome and is majestically situated on top of a volcanic cliff formed 350 millions ago. Its ancient history dates back to the Etruscan 700 BC and the network of 1200 caves under the town were built and used by them, later by the Medieval and Renaissance eras as well as during WW II. We did a 2 night stay at each in Tivoli and Orvieto, and it gave us plenty to time to enjoy the sights and FOOD.
