Welcome to another episode on the R2D channel! Today we’re analyzing a sample of engine oil from a 2006 Honda FR-V, equipped with a 2.0L gasoline + LPG engine, total mileage: 340,000 km. Same oil as in the previous episode (Mannol Energy 7511 5W30), same molybdenum disulfide additive (1g/L), but a different car – and very different usage conditions. 🔍 What makes this episode special? We directly compare the oil’s degradation in two vehicles – the Pontiac Vibe vs the Honda FR-V. Which one aged better? What factors had the greatest impact? Let’s break it down. 🧪 Summary of results: – Oil change after 9980 km, 90% highway driving – Viscosity drop: –13% (40°C) and –10% (100°C) – Blotter test: better clarity and less contamination than in Pontiac – FTIR analysis: lower nitration, oxidation and sulfonation – Final oil health score: 87% ✅ Key conclusion: Despite higher mileage and longer oil change interval, the Honda's oil sample was in much better condition than the Pontiac’s. Why? Less city driving, more consistent long trips, and better operating temperatures. 💡 This proves again: engine oil degrades more from conditions than distance.
