At the gold mill . The how and why we built a ball mill . The ball mill in the gold mill is essential to making fine powdered ore for leaching the gold. The ore comes from the jaw crusher and then is milled to powder in the ball mill . next the powder is washes over a magnetic drum to capture the magnetic portion of the ore that also holds the gold and pgms. Gold and pgms are not magnetic but they are attached to ferrous iron which makes magnetic separation possible.
