La Rioja, ruta 1 - 80 cm | La2

Don't miss all the 80cm routes at: 📺 👉 https://www.rtve.es/play/videos/80-cm/ Any excuse is a good one to visit La Rioja, the smallest autonomous community in mainland Spain: sample its wines, ski at the Valdezcaray resort, or hike in the Sierra Cebollera mountains. In the 80cm program, we've gone the extra mile, discovering landscapes, routes, and traditions very close to the capital. Baden Ravine Route 23 kilometers south of Logroño, we find Viguera, a town located at a strategic point, as it once controlled one of the access routes to the Meseta Central plateau through the Ebro Valley. It's worth going there just to visit the hermitage of San Esteban, built under the shelter of a giant rock. The key to access it can be picked up at a house near the N-111 highway for a donation. But for the more adventurous, at 80 CM we suggest accessing the Badén Ravine, a route (it must be said) not suitable for children or people with vertigo, but rather for hikers in good physical condition. -Respect the work of the livestock farmers. Leaving the Medieval Bridge of Viguera, you climb up to the ravine, and before entering it, you must cross a gate that must be closed, otherwise the livestock may escape and approach the road dangerously. The Badén Ravine, in some sections, is a natural spectacle due to its narrowness and the proliferation of ferns more typical of other latitudes. Having reached the highest point of the route, Peña Moya, we begin the descent through the Barranco del Infierno (Hell's Ravine), with a section where, due to the steepness of the terrain, it is essential to hold onto the rope provided. The rest of the descent is over uneven terrain until just before the plain that leads us to the Hermitage of San Esteban, the final point of the route.
