From a young age, Ms. Vini grew up actively involved in church—loving singing, reading the Bible, and serving. But deep down, she had been drawn to Islam since elementary school. She studied the Quran secretly with her teacher and even wanted to wear a hijab in junior high because her Muslim friends often teased her, saying she would look beautiful in it. Although her family initially opposed it—even her grandmother was furious—her heart remained strong. She finally declared her faith before Ramadan in 2017. Since then, many trials have come her way: a downturn in her finances, the loss of her beloved stepfather, and feelings of wavering in her faith. However, all of this has only made her more confident that God will always help her. Now, Ms. Vini is active in a Muslim convert community, studying the Quran, and helping her mother sell snacks to supplement the family income. “If possible, never return to your old religion.
