LUXOR, Egypt - Valley of The Kings -Tomb of RAMESSES V & VI (KV9)
Usermaatre Sekheperenre Ramesses V was the fourth pharaoh of the Twentieth Dynasty and was the son of Ramesses IV and Duatentopet. He reigned from 1149–1145 BC. On his death he was succeeded by his uncle Ramesses VI Nebmaatre-Meryamun, also known under his princely name of Amenherkhepshef C. He was the fifth ruler of the Twentieth Dynasty of Egypt and reigned for about eight years in the mid-to-late 12th century BC. He was a son of Ramesses III and queen Iset Ta-Hemdjert. The fragmented outer sarcophogus and the mummification sarcophogus of Ramesses VI remain in the tomb. During the construction of this tomb, the workers buried rubble and built their huts over the entrance to the tomb of Tutankhamun, which allowed it to remain undiscovered until Howard Carter identified it in 1922.
