A love affair between a person and an object: What seems incomprehensible to many is Regina's reality: She loves the overhead lines of trains, buses, and trams and feels no romantic interest in people. She has loved overhead lines since she was eleven. At home, instead of a partner, an overhead line device awaits her – Regina calls "Röhri" her husband. Oliver loves various objects, including locomotives and instruments. It's important to him that objectophilia is not confused with object sexuality. For clinical sexologist Werner Huwiler, objectophilia is nothing unusual. "Most people are capable of loving objects," he says. A good example of the connection between people and objects is the beloved teddy bear. Little is known about the causes of objectophilia. Science rarely addresses the phenomenon.
