How An Unknown Player Massacred The Red Sox
Halfway though 1978, the Red Sox had a 14 game lead on the Yankees as they were torn apart in the midst of Billy Martin's firing. But then, the Yankees caught fire while the Red Sox began to collapse cultivating into the Boston Massacre in September when the Yankees destroyed the Red Sox over 4 games in Fenway to tie the division. They would end up tied in the end setting up for the AL East tiebreaker. In that game, the Red Sox looked to have things in control until Bucky Dent hit a shocking 3 run home run as they went on to win the game and later the 1978 World Series.
