If you're so deeply in debt that you can't get out of it on your own, you can file for personal bankruptcy. Olli also decided to take this step when his debts grew to approximately €35,000. In personal bankruptcy, Olli's assets are managed by a trustee – during the seven years that such a personal bankruptcy can last, he is only allowed to use a certain amount each month. Anything left over is paid back to the creditors – with the goal of being debt-free after a few years.
