What size bottom drain should I fit on my Koi pond is a question I see asked a lot on the koi forums and Facebook groups. Worryingly it is usually answered with 'fit the biggest one you can' or 'the bigger the better' , which unfortunately is not always good advice. Settlement in bottom drain pipework is a major cause of bacterial infections as the silt created is a perfect breeding ground for bacteria.
