✨ In this video, I take you along on a very special fiber and culture journey to Teotitlán del Valle in Oaxaca, Mexico 🇲🇽🧶 Together, we explore this beautiful village known for its rich textile traditions, handwoven rugs, natural plant dyeing techniques, and deep connection to Zapotec weaving culture. During our visit, we discover naturally dyed wool, traditional craftsmanship, colorful yarns and textiles, and the inspiring atmosphere of one of Mexico’s most famous artisan communities. We learn more about how wool is dyed using plants, flowers, insects, and other natural materials that create the incredible vibrant colors Oaxaca is famous for. This visit was deeply inspiring as a knitter and textile lover. In this video, I also interview my mother, who first visited Teotitlán del Valle in 1986. She shares her memories and reflections on how the village, its textile traditions, tourism, and daily life have changed over the decades, offering a very personal and unique perspective on the region’s evolution.
