In this video the Viega 1 1/2" fittings DID fail. So did the Nibco fittings as well. The Nibco fittings failed first and THEN the Viega fittings failed. Come to find it was the 1 1/2" type M copper pipe that was causing the issues. The pipe was old and damned soft and couldn't handle the pressure of the propress jaws. So, I do think that Viega fittings are the best but I think Nibco's are ok as well. I have pressed a lot of Nibco fittings and never had any issues (mostly 1/2"-1"). I also press using the Italian made press fittings that Ferguson carries, never had any issues. I really do think in this situation the only solution was to solder the pipe.
