Demo Le Chatelier's Principle
@ Shakur Chemistry Tutorials In this demonstration, an equilibrium mixture of iron thiocyanate is created by mixing aqueous solutions of potassium thiocyanate with iron (111) nitrate. Observations are made of the colour changes produced when changes in the concentrations of the two reactants are made, separately. Before the changes in concentrations of the reactants are made, an opportunity is provided to predict the direction in which the equilibrium would shift. The changes in colour of the blood-red solution of the iron thiocyanate are used to validate the predictions. After the demo, analyses and profound explanations for the changes observed are provided, using Le Chatelier’s Principle.
