When you look inside a heat pump dryer, you can notice several components also found in refrigerators. These include the tensioner, the motor, and the compressor. The compressor, an important component that was not found in condenser or vented dryers, allows me to make the comparison with refrigerators. This is also why the tax on heat pump dryers has increased from €1 for older models (vented and condensed) to over €10 for heat pump dryers. This tax is nevertheless justified, in my opinion, given the qualities and efficiency of heat pump dryers, including their ability to consume much less energy!
