The village of Škjaune is located on the Latvian border, less than 200 meters from Belarus. It has a population of 284 (and not long ago, it had twice that number), a store, a club, a village council, and even multi-story buildings; by the way, you can see our country from there. Locals used to come here for scarce sausages and candy, but now they're racking up huge phone bills—they're connecting to Belarusian carriers.
