Fuzz Face Impedance - Part 3 getting the best tone - understanding the what and how of Impedance

Impedance is critical in a Fuzz Face because its low input impedance (typically 5kΩ–8kΩ) directly loads guitar pickups, creating a unique, interactive, and resonant tone that is highly sensitive to the guitar's volume knob. This specific design requires a high-impedance source (a guitar) to function properly; otherwise, it can sound thin, bright, or shrill. But why? If a buffered pedal (high impedance) is placed before a Fuzz Face, the input stage receives too much current, which is not the proper interaction, resulting again in a harsh, brittle, and unpleasant tone. But why? In this video we perform a technical deep dive on how the fuzz face interacts with the signals and/or pedals around it. 00:00 Introduction 00:25 Impedance theory 04:08 Guitar electronics theory 06:23 Buffer review 06:50 Input signal frequency response 08:25 Where the tone is made - first stage 11:47 What happens when the current is limited? 14:46 Second stage - can we make it work like a Range Master? 17:21 Using a real guitar signal - with and without buffer 19:37 First stage impedance and filter modifications 21:17 Output impedance 22:55 Conclusion - it's a string of impedances Contact Us https://calsonics.us/ Transistor operational class    • #113: Basics of Transistor bias point and ...   Transistor small signal analysis    • 58 - Small Signal Analysis (AC Calculations)   Lantertronics / Georgia Tech    • ECE4448 L44: Foundations of Fuzz Effects (...   Analog Amplifier Design    • TSP #15 - Tutorial on the Theory, Design a...   Electrosmash https://www.electrosmash.com/fuzz-face The FAQ For Fuzz Face Fanatics https://diy.smallbearelec.com/HowTos/...
