Moyshele Mayn Fraynd - Yiddish Song - Jewish Music by M. Gebirtig - New Arrangement (subtitles)

Please support my recording of vintage Yiddish songs by becoming a member at www.patreon.com/CantorClassics or donating a small amount (or joining) at www.buymeacoffee.com/cantorclassics . Thanks! Yiddish songs do not come much more poignant than "Moyshele Mayn Fraynd." This video features a new arrangement of this classic Yiddish music by Israeli composer Nissim Khalifa. I (Marc Berman) sings the vocals of what has become practically a Yiddish folk song. Mr. Khalifa's works (    / nissimkhalifacomposer   ; https://www.nissimkhalifa.com ) have been performed by the Symphonette Raa'nana Orchestra, Ashdod Symphony Orchestra, Israel Sinfonietta Beer Sheva, and the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, among others. Mordechai Gebirtig (1877 – 1942), who wrote the music and words of the song, was a Jewish poet and songwriter who lived in Poland. He was murdered by the Nazis in the Kraków Ghetto. Many of Gebirtig's songs have become so well known that they are thought of as Yiddish folk songs. These Jewish folk songs include "Yankele," "Reyzele," "Es brent," and "Kinder Yorn." A number of Gebirtig's songs, including "Moyshele Mayn Fraynd," have as their theme an old man's yearning for his lost childhood.
