Walt Disney Television Animation Logo History (#95)

Disney's TV output from 1954 until 1981 (the anthology series, Zorro, Mickey Mouse Club) had no in-credit text for "Walt Disney Productions" at all, only a copyright stamp at the end of the closing credits; also, the company did not have its own television arm until 1983 as Walt Disney Pictures Television. The name Disney obviously required no indication, unlike other studios. Syndication of Disney's library was done by SFM Entertainment. The original Mickey Mouse Club, The Mouse Factory, and the 1970s revival of MMC were the only programs made available through syndication; in the days before the Disney Channel, the lesser movies and the short cartoons were seen only on the anthology series, while the animated films and first-tier live-action films were, of course, re-issued to theaters. When the anthology series moved to CBS however, this changed. In 2000, Walt Disney Television was folded into Touchstone Television (later renamed ABC Studios in 2007, and later ABC Signature in 2020, now 20th Television) while its name continued to be used on new cartoons from Walt Disney Television Animation (now Disney Television Animation, which is now a unit of Disney Kids & Family) until 2003, when Disney later merged the television production company with the television animation division and Touchstone Television. Following the completed acquisition of 21st Century Fox in 2019, Disney returned to using the Walt Disney Television name for its combined television segment for 2 years before they subtly changed the name to Disney General Entertainment Content, with Disney Television Studios established on May 15, 2019. Disney Television Animation (formerly Walt Disney Pictures Television Animation Group and Walt Disney Television Animation) was formed in 1984 originally as the animated production arm of Walt Disney Television. Originally at the beginning of the end credits of any series, it currently uses both an in-credit text and on some series, an in-credit logo at the end of the credits, it used either the Walt Disney Television and/or Buena Vista Television/Buena Vista International logos. It was not until 2003 that it unveiled its own animated logo at the end of every show. Currently, it's the animation division of Disney Channel since 2005, who also produces programs for Disney XD (formerly Toon Disney and Jetix) and Disney Jr. (formerly Playhouse Disney and Disney Junior). In 2011, the name "Walt" was stripped from its television division, renaming it to its current name Lets reaching 9000 Subcribers (Before July ended!)
