二通りに解釈できます―最上級でtheのある場合とない場合

Many people probably understand this to mean, "You were the most beautiful at the wedding." However, it can also mean, "You were the most beautiful at the wedding." However, adding "the" makes it clear that this is the first meaning. I'll explain why the presence or absence of "the" has such an impact, focusing on grammar and sharing the opinions of native speakers. Please note that forgetting "the" does not make the meaning incomprehensible. Even if you intend to use the first meaning and forget to add "the," in most cases, others will be able to understand the meaning (especially from the context and situation), so this is not a fatal flaw. However, understanding this is an interesting point that will deepen your understanding of English and comparative expressions. It will also broaden your range of expression and understanding. Please use it as a reference. *When to Use "the" and When Not to Use "the" Whether to use "the" and when not to use "the" can be ambiguous. While there is a sense that a noun follows "the," there is also a sense that it is strange to use "the" after adverbs or standalone adjectives (descriptive usage) because no nouns follow them. Also, because some people believe that the should be used with the superlative, there seems to be some ambiguity about whether or not it's okay to use the or omit it. However, unlike native speakers, we non-native speakers have a harder time making intuitive decisions about whether to omit the word (though those who have lived in English-speaking countries for a long time may have acquired this sense to some extent). Therefore, I think it's best to first strive to speak grammatically correctly, and then acquire more natural expressions by actually conversing with native speakers. In these cases, it's common practice to omit the "the" (this has become the norm), so I think it's best to learn a more natural way of speaking (although there may be discrepancies even among native speakers...).
