HOW TO: COVER BACK TABLE STERILY Hey guys so this is the big debate I've been talking about on instagram. Just a little back story. I was coming in on my shift and the scrub set up the case and since there's been a delay, she covered the back table and the mayo. The way that she covered it is not the best way since it would be very difficult to remove the cover without contaminating the contents underneath. I will go over how another scrub and I was able to pull it off but that's on the next video. I wanted to address that HER way is major red flag and should never be done ever again. This video will show you how we're supposed to do it per management and infection control. I also linked a screenshot of a pdf from AST.ORG addressing the issue and you guys can make your own opinion about. The reason why I wanted to film this is because my whole content is about addressing the grey areas in the field. School will always teach you black and white. They will teach you the book stuff but I teach the grey parts so that when you actually go to clinicals, you're not gonna go crazy and question your schools integrity of information. Please bear in mind that most facilities varies which means they make their own rules. Even if the book says one thing, real life is another thing. Always keep an open mind. Feel free to challenge it but if you were in my position, would you go against your hospital infection control? Your director? Your charge nurse? Remember, when in Rome, you do how the Romans do. Unless it's a clear violation of sterility then absolutely. I have challenge my facilities before and sometimes I win them and most of the time, I lose.
